About Us

We are Gill and Steve, the daughter and son of Alfred Ackrill

In the time that has elapsed since the exhibition at the Manchester City Gallery, we have been involved in our respective family matters, but what to do next regarding our father's work has always been at the back of our minds.

During the five months exhibition at the Manchester City Gallery, we received hundreds of requests for prints of the paintings on display but none were available at that time due to Gallery budgets.  Apart from this, we have always been reticent to see our father's work mass-produced, because quality always gives way to quantity.  If prints were to be produced we felt we wanted something which would be worthy of the originals or we wouldn't consider going down that particular road.

Then we heard about a system of printing called 'Giclée', which produced almost 'like for like' and found someone who was using it.  We decided to try this out on one of the originals and were immensely impressed by the end result.  We felt this was the best way to get these paintings out there for other people to enjoy

Choosing which prints to reproduce was difficult as we had so many requests during the exhibition for so many of them.  In the end we chose the ones shown which we hope appeal to you

All prints are limited editions, and of short runs. The quality of reproduction is superb, and is as good as you get anywhere. Our printer also supplies limited prints for well-known "household name" artists.  Each painting is reproduced separately so cannot be dashed off in its hundreds as with other print methods.

This system is expensive but we have kept our costs down as low as we possibly can. All canvas prints come beautifully framed (or box framed on request) individually numbered and with their own Certificate of Authenticity. Those on fine art paper are expertly mounted ready for framing, also with their own Certificate

There are still around 50 paintings which have not been seen by the public and we are really looking forward to showing these at a later date.
